Armistice Day celebrated

A gathering dedicated to Armistice Day and the 110th anniversary of the start of World War I and the first Allied victory – the Battle of Cers – was held at the Embassy of Serbia in Helsinki.

Opening the event, Ambassador Aleksandar Janković spoke in more detail about Serbia's role in World War I, its enormous sacrifices and its great contribution to the Allied victory. The event was also addressed by Professor Markku Kangaspuro, Director of the prestigious Finnish Foreign Policy Institute "Aleksanteri", and Dr. Brandon Humphries from the University of Helsinki, who gave a historical retrospective of the events, with a special focus on Serbia's role and contribution to the Allied victory. The event was also addressed by Heikki Hutunen, Chairman of the Finnish National Forum for Cooperation with Religious Communities.

After the presentation, the documentary film "Golgotha ​​of Serbia" was shown. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic corps, the academic community and our community in Finland.
