The 12th Serbian Film Days were held in Helsinki on November 8 and 9, 2024. The festival featured five Serbian films: "Guardians of the Formula," "Toma," "Yu Grupa – A fleeting dream," "Sweet Sorrow," and "Working Class Heroes." This traditional event was organized to offer Finnish and international audiences the opportunity to watch some of the best contemporary Serbian cinematic works. The screenings were well-attended, with the films receiving an exceptionally positive reception from the audience.
During the festival’s opening ceremony, Vladan Jovanović, President of the Serbian-Finnish Society, and Aleksandar Janković, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Finland, addressed the attendees.
Before the screening of the film "Toma," celebrated actor and director Dragan Bjelogrlić addressed the audience via video link. Director Darko Lungo shared insights into the filmmaking process and offered his professional experiences.
A special cocktail reception was held to mark the opening of the festival, where some of Serbian traditional dishes were also presented.
The festival was organized by the Serbian-Finnish Society in Helsinki, with support from the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Helsinki, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia – Directorate for Diaspora Cooperation, the Film Center Serbia, and the City of Helsinki.
