Nineteen-year-old pianist from Serbia Bogdan Dugalic won second place at the prestigious International Piano Competition "May Lind", which is held every fifth year at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. In addition, this exceptionally talented student of the University Mozarteum Salsburg received a special award for the best pianist in the chamber performance category. The first prize of the ten-member international jury went to a pianist from Poland.
The traditional May Lind Festival is one of the highest-ranking music events in Finland, while the two-day finale is broadcasted on the domestic TV. Our competitor received from the TV audience as much as 76.2% of the votes for the best performer. In the final evening, he performed the famous Piano Concerto No. 1 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, accompanied by the Finnish Symphony Orchestra. Bogdan Dugalić was also the youngest competitor of this world festival.
